The NoSleep Podcast Rec List

Hand-picked by doc, which can only mean it’s oddly specific and lacking body horror and creepypastas of The Expressionless kind. Every section has links to the podcast wiki with short descriptions of the tales in the listed episodes, and a link to the correlating NoSleep page (consult those for the TW/CW for the stories).

NOTE: This is not all recs I have, these are just those I found my notes on. Tread carefully, ignore my typos, and may no true horrors harm you.

SEASON 4

List of the episodes | The NSP s4 page

Personal highlights (episode number, story title, short notes for it):

4×08 Still Waters: A Wild David Ault Appears in the Podcast! The pre-Ault era, as a friend of mine puts it, was cold and barren. This story is a sad and bittersweet one, and trust me, that’s only the beginning.

4×15 The End of All Hallow’s Eve: I highlight this one mostly because of the gentle way David narrates it.

SEASON 5

List of the episodes | The NSP s5 page

Personal highlights:

5×04: Scarecrow (which sounds like a minor SatD story tbh) and The Mummer Man (which is the story that established the typecasting pattern for a certain Peter Joseph Lewis)

5×13 My Wife Cooked Me Dinner: A Glorious Erika Sanderson Joins the Ride! A very sad and very sweet and gentle story on coping mechanisms and genuine love.

5×17 From Hell, You Must Entertain Heaven: another sad and gentle story of arts and ghosts, written by NoSleep’s composer, Brandon Boone.

SEASON 6

List of the episodes | The NSP s6 page

Personal highlights (there should be more, but I need to double-check):

6×12 I’ve Had My Dog Since the Day I Was Born: Peter Lewis narrating a bittersweet tale of a protective canine. In short: WE DON’T DESERVE DOGS </3

SEASON 7

List of the episodes | The NSP s7 page

Personal highlights are A LOT here:

7×01 The Tall Dog: GENUINELY HORRIFYING because it’s a tale of unintentional neglect that leads to multiplying grief, and you don’t need me to tell you how heartwrenching David’s acting can be. Can be found outside the Season Pass zone as one of the re-runs in special episodes of later seasons.

7×02 The Pocket Watch: If you’re familiar with the plot of “Hannibal Rising”, you can guess what’s it about. Another sad one.

7×04 The Lighthouse Boy: Get ready to tear up, that’s another bittersweet one where you’ll feel the urge to hug the protagonist.

7×05 A Seaside British Pub: IS A LEGEND and there’s a sequel to it. My personal belief that Erika Sanderson is a rock star starts here.

7×08 How Did I Ever Get Into This Mess?: An amazing take on the thin line between adoration and stalker behaviour.

7×10 Bennington Snodgrass Goes Courting: A rare but bright comedy in NoSleep feeds. Prepare your evil cackling.

7×12 The Djinn Bottle: Another grim and sad fairytale, where you wish you could help but know you cannot.

7×15 Bounce: If you ever wondered what is the word that can describe David Ault being a supernatural sassy menacing presence, it’s DELIGHTFUL.

7×16 Miss Marni’s Teahouse: One of my personal favourites. Tea, witchcraft, unrequited love and a bit of bone dust.

7×20 Continuinty and Equilibrium: …another word to describe a supernatural David Ault is ‘enjoyable’.

SEASON 8

List of the episodes | The NSP s8 page

Personal highlights:

8×10 The Things We See in the Woods: Surprisingly gentle for a gorey ghost story.

8×14 The Whispered Fears of Wayward Boys: A typical “911 call gone weird”, but expertly performed.

8×22 The Ringing In My Ear: Pain, affection and sweet, sweet revenge. (Is available for free as a part of the Summer Vacation ep in season 9.)

SEASON 9

List of the episodes | The NSP s9 page

Personal highlights:

9×09 An Unwelcome Audience: A rare case of Peter Lewis being a sane protagonist. Also a very good description of the way the woods can be dead silent.

9×10 Burn: AN ODD ONE. In my personal opinion, it would have worked better with a male love interest, but hey. Still, a well-written tale.

9×16 I First Met the Devil When I Was Eight Years Old: Have you missed a satanic David Ault? Here’s another one!

9×20 My Brother Ben, Who Was Adopted: Look how the turns have tabled! A nice twist here.

9×22 His Horoscope Said He’d Be Going Home: Another extremely rare case of Peter Lewis. They actually let him be a romantic and caring character here.

Halloween 2017: The Viewing. Trust me, it’s delightful.

SEASON 10

List of the episodes | The NSP s10 page

Personal highlights:

Bonus ep: 2017 British Christmas, hidden behind the paywall. An Opening At Christmas: A gut-wrenching tale written by The Ault Himself. There’s the first appearance of a Nixon Tale here as well (Carve and Colour).

10×07 Underneath the Mistletoe: Another rare mostly sane and romantically involved Peter Lewis here, but sod it, the story is GOOD. It’s the case when you know things that the narrator has no clue about. Gives me TMA feels in the most satisfying way.

10×22 Driftwood (scary, weird and picturesque) and The Wormhole Past Jupiter (horror IN SPACE, yay! it’s also included in Waiting for 11 ep).

10×25 THE BRITISH PUB RETURNS!!!

SEASON 11

List of the episodes | The NSP s11 page

Personal highlights:

11×02 The Name Eater: A proper fairytale, I respect that.

11×25 The Public Domain: Come for the plot, stay for SHERLOCK HOLMES WHO WANTS TO EAT YOU.

SEASON 12

List of the episodes | The NSP s12 page

Personal highlights:

12×00 The Bull Skull: Worth. Every. Penny. A Season Pass ep with a disturbed Peter Lewis and a supernatural David Ault THE WAY THE DARK GODS OF AUDIO DRAMA INTENDED.

12×03 A Christmas Wish: I see some disturbingly relatable logic here. Also, David Ault writing a vengeful girl? I’m here for it.

12×04 My Pet Monster: An extremely sad one.

12×13 There’s No Such Thing as Real Magic: Oh trust a story about stage magic and illusions be a deliciously disturbing one.

12×24 Side Effects: A Season Pass story that made me re-listen a whole bunch of episodes in search of this exact one. My key words were: “sad Erika Sanderson”, “unreliable narrator”, “cat”.

SEASON 13

List of the episodes | The NSP s13 page

Personal highlights:

13×02 The House of Edges: A delicious almost noir fairytale told by Erika Sanderson.

13×03 It All Started with a Hot Air Balloon: First, there’s Erika Sanderson BOTH as the mother and her son. Second – it feels like it’s written by H.G. Welles. Or P.K. Dick. It’s THAT GOOD.

13×15 and further openings to the episodes released while the team was touring: Plan X. Just trust me, all that meta glory needs to be in your life. Also – the CAROLING in 13×25. ALSO – ALL LIVE EPISODES. You’ll thank me later for pointing you in their direction. They are amazing.

13×19 How Not To Get Rid of a Body: Gemma Amor and dark comedy. Honestly, that’s all you need to know.

13×23 Diamonds and Pearls: Another proper fairytale.

SEASON 14

List of the episodes | The NSP s4 page

Personal highlights:

14×04 Zwergin Pond: A stray SatD ep lost in a different feed xD

14×12 Husband’s Needs: Some body horror, some madness, some awful victim blaming that is the true horror.

14×16 Midnight Caller: A Season Pass story that has tiiiiny hints that make it very satisfying.

14×19 What Would Westley Do?: Another SP one, but the ugly twist in there was so worth every coin.
